The UAV The controls: If you haven't changed the default than this is what you've got: W: forward R: climb S: backward F: descend A: strafe left Mouse left/right: turn left/right D: strafe right Mouse up/down: look up/down Left Mouse: fire Right Mouse: alternate Please note that the arrow keys are also possible by default instead of mouse movement but this is harder to fly and aim.
How to fly: The UAV is very easy to fly since it is extremely stable and you don't have to press any key to keep hovering in place. It will only move slowly to a random direction but you only notice this if you are hovering just above the ground. The only drawback of this is that quick direction changes are not possible. But when you turn when flying low you should watch out not to hit anything since it will strafe to that direction. Also don't hit the action key (E by default) since this will destroy it.
The weapons: Hellfire (MAIN) : 135 explosive damage /400 hit damage (against vehicles) reload: 25 Extra damage perk for hellfire: 168.75 explosive damage/ 500 hit damage (against vehicles) Extra armor package: armor is increased from 50 to 62.5 Smoke launcher: fires smoke canisters which can kill people in the vicinity reload: 20? Faster reload: lowers the reload time of the hellfire from 25 to 18.75 sec motion sensor: detects mines, c4, enemies,... in close range; Alternate weapon: adds an MG 10 damage rate: 750 Enhanced zoom: allows you to zoom in. The UAV respawns after 2 minutes For reference: Everybody has 100 hitpoints (50 in hardcore) Tanks have 1250 hitpoints but hitting a tank on any other side than front will deal double damage as long as you hit it head-on (90 degree angle). This applies for all armored vehicles. Choppers, light vehicles and the patrol boat have 500 hitpoints. Quad bike and jet ski have 250 hittpoints. TOW and MG have 125 hitpoints.
How to fly in combat and what perks to use? First of all, this depends on the map and your ability to maneuver with the UAV. Since you have very little health and repairs aren't easy, you should try to avoid taking any damage at all. The best way to achieve this is to work stealthily. However this is not always an option, so try to keep moving and dodge bullets. There are two basic tactics you can use: Long distance shooting (for the less experienced) and hit and run (for the better pilots out there). For long distance shooting it is very handy to have the enhanced zoom perk. This will allow you to fire at your enemies from far away so they can't hit you easily; you should try to strafe constantly while flying to avoid getting shot by a sniper. This is also an ideal perk for spotting enemies for your teammates. However the secondary weapon perk is also handy for this purpose once you get a bit better in flying and aiming. If both of these ideas are too hard, use the extra damage perk, this increases your chance of a kill. Focus on the tanks since they're easy to predict. Hit and run tactics: Start from a high and far position then as you move towards your enemy try to hit them as you fly by, once your missile makes impact make a quick escape and realign for the next attack. The advantage of this is you can aim easily, but you are very vulnerable so you should try to get away as fast as possible. To minimize the time you're vulnerable, it's handy to fire the missile a few seconds before you think you're going to see someone. Mastering this tactic is needed to make roadkills and to do the objective. For this tactic the reload perk is the handiest or the secondary gun perk.
Use of other perks: Extra armor: Not that handy since the total armor remains low. Basically, they just have to hit you once more. Smoke: Meant to neutralize flares but normally you won't get hit by any flares so,... also the smoke isn't enough to conceal yourself and doesn't last long enough. so the only use is when trying to kill someone you've missed with a roadkill, since the smoke is deadly if the enemy is close enough to inhale it. Motion sensor: Not handy for the UAV, you are either too far away and can't see the enemy or you pass by too fast to see.
Other tactics: Shooting down helicopters: you can with the hellfire when they don't move too fast but luck is more needed than skill around here.
C4 attack: This is where the fun begins! The purpose of this is to neutralize an enemy (vehicle) or objective (rush) which is otherwise hard to hit. You need one or more friends to do this, they need to attach C4 to the UAV. Once they are done attaching C4 (maximum 6 per player) then fly as fast as possible to your target and let them know when to detonate it. Whenever possible, land on top of the target, this causes the most damage. If you target an objective, destroy some walls first so you can easily fly in. After a successful attack, the UAV will take damage but not that much. Sometimes you can make it back and try another run. How much C4 you'll need? Each C4 deals 875 damage and an objective has 10.000 hitpoints tanks have 1250 hitpoints. Anyway, more is always handy since this increases the chances if you are close but not close enough.
Roadkills: This is the hardest vehicle to score a roadkill since it is the smallest of all, so this is mainly for fun, since the other weapons allow you to make kills faster and easier. Hope you learnt something. CrazyTony0 |
