Next step... Classes, which best suits me and what do I do? What is their role on the battlefield and how can I help my team? There are 4 different classes :
Assault
The assault class is the basic drone soldier, his job is to kill as many enemies as possible and hand out ammo to those who need it on the battlefield. His main weapon is a Rifle with a grenade launcher. You can rezognize him on the battlefield due to the lack of equipment, he basically carries nothing extra on his back. The assault symbol is a lightning bolt.
As already stated you just have to try and get as many kills as possible and try to arm the bombs (if you are playing Rush). After you gain the first 1000 XP (in assault) you will unlock the ammobox. The ammobox can then be placed near your teammates and will automatically deal out ammo to those near it. If you see teammates with a flashing ammo icon next to their name it means they need ammo. It's really important that you always drop your ammobox! Drop it by a group of teammates or at a bottleneck in the map, because sooner or later they will need ammo.
As assault you primary weapon is a rifle, it deals out some serious damage and if you hit 3 you switch to your secondary fire mode. This can be a rifle grenade, a smoke grenade or a shotgun. The rifle grenade can be used to take out groups of enemies or to take out walls that are blocking your way. You could even combine the two by taking out a wall with an enemy hiding behind it!
The smoke grenade can be used as a wall of cover while you arm the bomb or to cover your team while they arm the bomb. This can be a very effective tool is used right blinding your enemies and when they emerge from the smoke you pick them off easily.
The shotgun is a great tool if you want to get up close and personal. For instance you can shoot at your enemies from a distance to get their attention, when they come closer, switch to shotgun and go in for the kill.
If you don't pick one of the assult specific weapons you can take C4, this can prove very handy for taking out M-COM stations. Engineer
The engineer class is a vehicle specialist, his primary tasks are repairing friendly and taking out enemy vehicles. His main weapon is a submachine gun with a silencer, but his most important weapon is his explosive choice (weaponbank 3). You can recognize him on the battlefield thanks to the RPG / Rocketlauncher he carries on his back, or his specialized helmet with vizor. The engineer symbol is a wrench.
If you are on the defending team, then there are a few things you can do :
If you are on the attacking team then you can :
When you get to level 11 you unlock the tracer dart which is a very helpful tool for yourself and other engineers on your team. Shoot it at enemy vehicles (especially tanks / helicopters). Once the tracer dart has been planted, grab your RPG and aim at the tank. You will see a flashing square on the vehicle. This means you are locking onto the vehicle. Once a distance appearrs under the box FIRE! The RPG will fly straight at the target and follow it if it moves. Once you have a lock(you see a distance) you can also quickly look up and then fire, with this trick you can fire over objects and rain missiles from above.
I said you can shoot a tracer at a helicopter, but I warn you it's VERY difficult, unless the helicopter is standing still. You can shoot it at just about anything (if you can hit it) even enemy players and the UAV! One tip I can give you is that the tracer dart has practically no effect from gravity, the rest is aiming and experience.
I'd advise using the RPG since it does the most damage, the gustav travels faster which makes it better for helicopters, but it does less damage. The M136-AT4 (the last launcher to be unlocked) is the most powerful. It has a guidance system which makes it perfect for hitting tanks in the side and taking then out fast. The only problem is that it doesn't work with a vehicles lock.

Medic
The medic class is the tank of a squad, he has the biggest gun and isn't afraid to use it. His main weapon is a light machine gun. You can recognize him on the battlefield due to the huge gun / backpack or 'stylish' hat
The medic is a good supportive class, the first thing you have to try and do is kill as many enemies as possible. Don't rush towards the enemy though, take it slowly and stop at safe points outside the main battlezone. You squad members can then spawn onto you while you cover them from the side lines. Once you gain 1000XP (in medic) you unlock the medic pack. Throw this where you are supporting, or at teammates with low health, or just throw it at a group of teammates eventaully they'll need it and the xp will come rolling in.
The next unlock to look out for is the defibrillator, when your teammates die you get use this on their lifeless body to revive them. I can already hear you saying "That's more like it" Yep, now the real fun starts.
A good medic can really make or break a team, if you use the lightweight upgrade you can sprint over the battlefield picking up your teammates left and right. Watch out the the defib' charge time! You always need to wait a few seconds before doing another revive, use this time wisely and pop some bullets into the enemies.
If you doing it right you'll easily be the highest scoring player on your team and sometimes even of the match! Recon
The recon class has lot's a more use then first meets the eye. His main weapon is a sniper. You can recognize him on the battlefield thanks to his ghillie suit. The recon symbol is a crosshair.
The recon class is often mistaken for 'sniper' while that's only a small part of his abilities. You can also call in a mortar strike on key locations. For instance put it on an M-COM station after your team has planted, or put it on the road the enemies have to go down. Place it wisely though since it has a long charge time. Also throw your dam motion sensor as soon as you unlock it. As soon as you think enemies are nearby throw it at them to spot them, or just throw it at a spot you think they are going to pass! It basically gives you free spotting XP and helps out your team aswell as yourself.
The C4 has many uses, I suggest you just try it out and see what fits you best, here are some examples :
If you just want to be a sniper like all the others then at least be a smart sniper :
Well that's it, so pick a class, get out there and defeat the enemy! stealth' |
